The Cluster was established to promote cooperation between companies in the industry and to develop production and export market potential. The Cluster is a business-oriented association whose priorities are business development, winning new markets and expanding existing ones.

Certified Cluster

Latvian Wood Construction Cluster has been awarded the Bronze label of the European Cluster Excellence Initiative.

Since 2012

Latvian Wood Construction Cluster has been operating since 2012 to promote cooperation between companies in the wood construction industry and strengthen the demand for wooden buildings both in Latvia and in export markets. We believe that through the wider use of wood in construction, we can more effectively address climate, economic, social and regional development challenges.

Wood construction types and solutions.

CLT

Cross laminated timber (CLT). Suitable for floors, walls and roofs in multi-storey buildings.

GLT

Glued laminated timber (also known as glulam) in which all of the wood grain is parallel. Used in columns and structural beams.

LVL

Laminated veneer lumber, the grain direction of adjacent layers is parallel. Widely used in building construction.

Timber

Timber obtained by sawing sawlogs lengthwise along their grain. Sawn timber includes planks, beams, posts, logs.

Glued wooden beams

Glued wooden beams are a highly durable, long spanning structural material used in building construction.

Timber trusses

Timber trusses are prefabricated structures that cover a building. It is a durable structure with a high load-bearing capacity.

Log houses

A building in which the walls are made of logs laid flat and joined at the corners or uprights.

Wooden frame panels

Structural elements or panels of a building assembled from wood. The panels contain thermal insulation for windows and external doors.

Wooden modules

A wooden modular house is a type of building usually made of several identical sections or modules.

"Wood is both a traditional and modern material that works very well with other trendy materials such as metal, brick, concrete or glass."

The Latvian Wood Construction Cluster is committed to increasing the use of wood in construction, as it contributes to the country's economic development, the achievement of environmental goals and the improvement of public health.
